Oscar hopeful Kate Winslet said today that she was keeping calm in the run-up to Sunday’s ceremony by being "alarmingly normal".

She told GMTV: "I have been doing all the normal things like making shepherd’s pie and taking the kids to school."
The tension has been building as speculation mounts that the star could finally be in line for a statuette after six nominations without a win.
Her win at the Baftas earlier this month when she picked up the Leading Actress award has only served to intensify the buzz that she could pick up the best actress award for her role as a concentration camp guard in The Reader.
Winslet’s gushing acceptance speeches at other awards ceremonies have led to suggestions that she could find it hard to control herself if she did pick up the gong.
But she said that she had asked her son’s advice. "He said ‘I think you should say thank you to everybody for helping me.’ Which I thought was so sweet."
